About Department:

The Department offers Computer Science (H) and General undergraduate programmes (both of 3-year) affiliated to Vidyasagar University.

The undergraduate programme in Computer Science (H) and General are essentially aimed at developing a student with excellent programming and system related competencies. The student is supposed to be developing skills and knowledge both in hardware and software technologies related to computer science. Teaching is focused in system programming as well as application programming.

The students are admitted to B.Sc. (Computer Sc.) Department according to the Vidyasagar University norms. Most of our students are from rural background without the knowledge of IT. The Management provides financial aid in the form of fees concession to students who are economically weak. The Department encourages the students to contribute in weekly PPT presentation on Current IT, Designing of e-magazines related to IT, developing IT Projects as guided by University, and IT Quiz. Our students, who have already completed B.Sc. (H) are recruited in reputed IT Companies and some of them are pursuing M.Sc.

Apart from academic syllabus the Department organizes Add-on Courses namely “Computer Basics” for the students to acquire more knowledge about IT.

Career Prospects:

The prospects for this course are limitless what with computers becoming a part of everyday life. Many companies and Indian companies are always on the lookout for skilled Computer Science and one can choose from a range of options. Infosys, Wipro, Satyam-Mahindra, Dell, TCS, CMC, Polaris, Cognizant technologies, Sierra Atlantic, Google are some of the top companies that recruit Computer Science graduates regularly. Many opportunities in the government sector are also opening up, especially in the field of e-governance and Government to citizen services. Students can also pursue higher education like M.Sc. MCA and MBA in specialized courses.

The department has dedicated Computer Labs (Software and Hardware). In Software Lab the computers are enabled with internet to enhance the knowledge of the students. The Department has adopted ICT method in teaching and also encourages the students to follow the same.
